ADVANCES IN UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE OF MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI IN PLANT NUTRITION AND STRESS TOLERANCE
Author: Aditya Sheershwal, Vani Sharma

ABSTRACT
Mycorrhizal fungi play a pivotal role in plant nutrition and stress
tolerance, forming intricate mutualistic relationships with
approximately 80% of terrestrial plant species. Recent advances in
molecular and imaging techniques have shed new light on the
dynamic role of these fungi in facilitating nutrient acquisition,
particularly for immobile elements like phosphorus and
micronutrients. Transcriptomic analyses have revealed the
upregulation of specific phosphate transporter genes in plants
colonized by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), while isotopic
labelling studies have quantified the bidirectional transfer of nutrients
and carbon in mycorrhizal systems. Beyond their role in nutrition,
mycorrhizal fungi have been empirically shown to enhance plant
tolerance to various abiotic stresses, including drought, salinity, and
metal toxicity, by employing physiological mechanisms that enhance
water absorption, facilitate osmotic adjustment, and regulate
antioxidant systems. The production of glomalin by AMF also
contributes to soil aggregate formation and long-term carbon storage,
improving soil health and fertility. The incorporation of mycorrhizal
fungi into agricultural production systems presents a viable
alternative to chemical-intensive practices, as meta-analyses have
demonstrated their ability to enhance nutrient use efficiency, reduce
dependency on synthetic fertilizers, and increase yield across diverse
cropping systems. This review provides a critical analysis of the
multifaceted contributions of mycorrhizal fungi to plant nutrient
dynamics, drawing on recent empirical evidence and contextualizing
these insights within the broader framework of current environmental
and agronomic challenges. The review aims to underscore the pivotal
role of mycorrhizal fungi as integral components of the plant-soil
interface and their potential to promote sustainable agricultural
practices.

ANTIVIRAL PROPERTIES OF 1,3,4-OXADIAZOLE DERIVATIVES AGAINST SARS-2
Author: Shama Parveen, Rishabh Bhardwaj, Madhu Sudan & Vikas Gupta

ABSTRACT
We describe the manufacture and biological evaluation of new,
potentially effective antibiotics against viruses that are 1,3,4-
oxadiazole substituted derivatives. Using a combination of mass
spectrometry, 1H NMR, IR, UV, and 13C NMR techniques, the
structures of the recently manufactured derivatives were established.
Since there aren't many clinically authorized treatments for the
COVID-19 pandemic yet, new ones must be developed by mid-2022.
This study examined three 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives' ability to
stop the SARS-2 virus from multiplying in the cultivation of cells.
One of the compounds described did not effectively stop the SARS-2
virus from reproducing.
Keywords: antiviral action, 1,3,4-oxadiazole, &1,3,4-oxadiazole
derivatives.

ABSTRACT:
This review concludes by addressing the challenges and future
directions in the field, emphasizing the need for
environmentally sustainable, efficient, and scalable methods to
meet the growing demand for conducting polymers in
advanced technological applications. Conducting polymers
(CPs) have garnered great attraction due to their exceptional
electrical, optical, and mechanical qualities, making them
innovative materials for vast applications, including in sensors,
energy storage devices, and flexible electronics. This review
focuses on key polymerization techniques of Polypyrrole used
to synthesize conducting polymers, such as chemical
polymerization, electrochemical polymerization, and Electro
spinning, Micro emulsion polymerization, Vapor-Phase
polymerization, Mechano-chemical Polymerization.
Additionally, advancements in enzymatic and vapor-phase
polymerization techniques are also discussed, highlighting their
potential for producing high- quality conducting polymers with
enhanced properties. The review gives out a general outlook of
synthesis and conductivity of Polypyrrole.

INDUSTRIAL DYES FOR POLYMER MATERIALS: A REVIEW
Author: Sakshi Yadav, Pinky Yadav, Sushmita Sarkar, Preeti Joshi & Shubham Sharma1

ABSTRACT
Dyeing is a process by which we fix the colour on textile,
paper, leather etc. Dyes are primarily chemical compounds that
connect themselves to fabrics or surfaces to pass on the colour.
Demand for dyes is increased rapidly due to the growth in
market size. Nowadays, dye-containing polymer are used in
medicine, the gas separation process, etc., on the basis of their
application and on the basis of source of material it is divided
into major two components Natural dye and Synthetic dyes.
The most challenging issue for the company’s manufacturing
dyes is the pollution caused by the dyes and their harmful effect
on the environmental water. The pollution caused by the dyes
in water reduces sunlight penetration due to which
photosynthetic process is destroyed that becomes a threat to
aquatic life. Till date, the annual production of more than
100,000 commercial dyes is 7 × 105tonnes/year. The treatment
of wastewater can be done by the chemical method, physical
method and biological method. Dye-bearing waste treatment by
adsorption using low- cost alternative adsorbent is a demanding
area as it has double benefits i.e. water treatment and waste
management. Further, activated carbon from biomass has the
advantage of offering an effective, low-cost replacement for
non-renewable coal-based granular activated carbon, provided
that they have similar or better adsorption efficiency.
Keywords : Low-Cost Adsorbents, Pigments, DyeContaining Polymers .

GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE POLYMER MATERIALS: A REVIEW
Author: Ankita Sharma, Suman Sarkar, Shubham Sharma

ABSTRACT
Green and sustainable production has gained popularity as they
have a less impact on the environment. This chapter main goal
is to introduce the characterization, applications and the most
important is to manufacture green polymers. Synthetic
polymers have been the focus of research since the middle of
the nineteenth century. Natural polymers have focused the
attention of numerous researchers due to their attractive
qualities for pharmacological applications. Also there is
opportunity to investigate new polymers for targeted drug
delivery. Although synthetic polymers have many advantages,
their durability has resulted in a global plastic pollution
problem that now poses one of the most pervasive and
extensive threats to our planet's health and future.
Keywords : Synthetic polymer, Sustainable polymers,
Biodegradable polymer.
